Walnut and Kadayıf Baklava Recipe

Preparation Time: 40-45 minutes, Cooking Time: 30-35 minutes, Servings: 10-12 people

Materials List

  • 10 sheets of baklava pastry
  • 150 grams of fresh, raw kadayıf (shredded phyllo dough)
  • 200 grams of butter
  • 150 grams of finely ground walnuts
  • 1.5 cups of chocolate chips
  • 1 slice of Golf Maraşım Ice Cream

For the syrup:

  • 1.5 cups of powdered sugar
  • 2 cups of milk

Step-by-Step Recipe

  1. Combine the milk and sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Once boiling, remove from heat and let cool.
  2. Next, shred the kadayıf dough nicely.
  3. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on the counter and brush it with melted butter. Place the second sheet on top and brush with butter again. Repeat this process for all four sheets of phyllo dough.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded phyllo dough evenly over the greased phyllo sheets, then add the walnuts and chocolate chips. Finally, drizzle with a little oil.
  5. Using a rolling pin, roll up the baklava dough and cut it into 2-finger-thick slices, then arrange them in a baking dish.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius until golden brown, approximately 30-35 minutes.
  7. Pour the cold syrup over the hot baklava you've just taken out of the oven and let it rest to absorb the syrup.
